How To Get Your Windows And Doors Looking Christmassy
It’s the most wonderful time of the year – yes, Christmas has nearly arrived!
Throughout the streets of Yorkshire you can see that homeowners, like last year, are really pulling out all the stops with their decorations, and why not?
Do the same and you will be in the most fabulous festive mood, which will need to involve more than just putting up the Christmas tree.
Yes, your windows and doors should be decorated too and we have some fantastically fun ideas of how this can be done to give Santa a sensational sight on Christmas morning.
Display door AND window wreaths
Door wreaths are now as much of a Christmas custom in this country as turkey and mince pies – no door should be without one this festive season.
Our American cousins are also big fans of door wreaths, but like to accompany them with window wreaths, which are pretty much a mini-version of a door wreath.
They tend to favour window wreaths with little red bows on them, a really cute Christmassy look.
Fairy lights, lanterns and candles
It’s absolutely essential that you have some Christmas lights.
Bring attention to your windows by draping them with battery-powered fairy lights, add some lanterns close to your front door to illuminate your pathway, and put an advent candle in a window.
You don’t need to take a hit on your electricity bill to light up the house and it will make the place feel unbelievably cosy.
Christmas ornaments
Your attic is probably full of old Christmas ornaments that you have either made or collected down the years.
If you have an old snowman, festive village or Nativity scene, get them displayed on your windowsills and show to the world that you are crazy about Christmas and can’t wait for the big day.
For a Christmassy houseplant, poinsettias are the most appropriate as their star-shaped leaf pattern is said to symbolise the Star of Bethlehem.
No-one likes a Scrooge! Enter into the spirit of things and be bold with your home this Christmas.
