Turn your fireplace into a Christmas centrepiece
Why only have your Christmas tree as a festive focal point? Your fireplace could be a second strong festive feature, and in the process, make you feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
The addition of a Christmas wreath above the fireplace will help it draw attention – you can still hang one on your front door too.
Along the mantle, put down a garland, but don’t just leave it at that. Add a neon sign with a message of ‘Happy Xmas’ or ‘Let it Snow’ on or close to it.
Fill glass bottles and jars with fairy lights
It’s hard to resist the temptation not to crack open the Christmas food and drink before the big day. If you give into it, keep hold of any bottles and jars and they can become light decorations.
Just drill a hole in the bottom of the bottles that will enable you to feed through some fairy lights and push them into your jars, arranging them into a cute arrangement.
Save on energy by getting battery-powered LED fairy lights and add your bottles and jars to window sills, shelves etc. for a gorgeous light display.
Have your favourite festive snaps on show
The festive period is a time for having fun and making lots of memories as a family. You may have photos of previous Christmases stashed away.
Find them and select a few of your favourite pictures that could go onto some baubles for the tree, in a snow globe or made into little polaroids for displaying around the house.
Just seeing them will never fail to raise a smile and be a real Christmas comfort.
