Some people go to a serious effort with their front doors and their hard work is usually well worth it.
An attractive front door can speak volumes about a house and those who live within it, and a shot of one always makes for a good Instagram post.
For proof of that, log into Instagram and type in either of the following hashtags: #frontdoor #frontdoors.
You will see some of the most gorgeous-looking front doors, and there’s no reason why your front door can’t be just as well-liked on the social media platform.
This is how to make your front door more than Insta-worthy:
Coloured finish
When investing in a new front door or modernising your old front door with a fresh coat of paint, choose a colour that compliments the age and character of your house and also the locality.
A significant number of front doors in this country are grey, black or white, classic colours that never go out of fashion. But you do get variations, such as Chartwell Green and Duck Egg Blue doors.
You may even see a few pink doors on streets. Pink is a door colour that can work, but don’t go too bright with it!
Door wreath
It is the ‘in’ thing at the moment to have a door wreath on a front door at all times, not just over the Christmas period.
It’s not actually that difficult to make your own door wreath as you can always find instructions of how to do it on the Internet and also discover what you need, but there’s nothing wrong with buying a premade wreath.
For the summer months, it would make sense to have a door wreath that features the colours orange, pink and red.
Plants
No Insta-worthy door would be such without some planters in shot too, normally at either side of a front door.
There are various forms of planters available, with the majority of householders opting for twin potted bay trees, which look smart and give a front door that extra bit of gravitas.
It’s just important that you remember to keep watering your planters, and it’s the same when you use a hanging basket or two outside.
