TILED ROOF EXTENSION WITH BI-FOLD DOORS
Expectations were confounded when we managed to squeeze in this small tiled roof extension at a jaw-dropping residence.
Our design team love a challenge and it was certainly a test of their skill when they were tasked with creating a tiled roof extension for this house. They didn’t disappoint. Even from the far end of the garden, the extension makes a huge impression, and that is reinforced the closer you get to it and enter through the bi-folding doors.
It has a very high-pitched roof, which is the secret to making it feel so spacious, and there are windows within it to ensure it receives an optimum amount of light. The front facing window also encourages the sun indoors.
It sees as much use at night as it does during the day because of the inclusion of downlighters in the ceiling. They emit a soft light, but one that’s strong enough to generate the perfect night-time ambience. The downlighters aren’t the only vital feature. It’s the brickwork used to construct the extension and the tiled roof on top of it, that make the extension blend into the building.
These two components are also essential for insulating the interior so that even when the weather is at its worse, you can’t feel a bit of it inside. It may not be the biggest extension you’ve ever seen, but that doesn’t matter to the owners, who appreciate every inch of space it’s added.
